Just 3 Weeks to the Marblehead Nationals at Datchet !!

With just 3 weeks to go the excitement is building ahead of the 50th anniversary of the first Radio Marblehead National Championships held in 1974.  With 6 former holders of the trophy ,4 world champions including the current holder, Patrice Montero, and an entry of 32 skippers to date, plus counting towards next year’s world championship, this is shaping up to be the Marblehead event of 2024.

There is still time to enter via the MYA website, but if you would prefer to come along and watch the action you will be made very welcome by the hosts Datchet Radio Sailing.

The Datchet race team are in training and water levels are currently at their maximum so fingers crossed for favourable weather.

The dedicated catering team are fine tuning the menu for the event dinner on the Saturday evening (included in the entry) and the usual club catering will be available during both days.

Come along on the 1st & 2nd June and be a part of this exciting event.

What’s In Your Toolbox?? How about self gripping tweezers??

I’ve packed long nose tweezers in the toolbox for quite a while. It’s easy to spot jobs under deck of the boat where mere fingers will not do.

At the Club last Sunday I happened to see these in use – narrow nose self gripping tweezers. Ideal. You see those little ratchet surfaces near the thumb grips – that’s how they lock themselves closed.

It’s funny how you can assume tools like this must be really pricey. If you look on amazon you’ll find them for around £6-£7 a time. Amazingly from the Amazon fishing tackle section. Dead cheap frankly. You can get them in differing lengths 6, 8, 10 inches and more. I figure that as well as self gripping, the sheer lengthy if these is dead useful. Takes up very little space in the toolbox either.

If you have a Marblehead anyway, this is a way to work in those long thin under the deck situations.
