Futaba T6K – REPAIRS INFO – G Cowling – QLD Australia – 4-12-2025 – g.cowling@live.com.au
I have been using the Futaba T6K Transmitter with R3006SB Receiver set as TFHSS mode for RC Sailing and had some issues with my Transmitter Jog Key control, The main item that allows changes to Menu setup, where it became intermittent and eventually Non operational thus leaving me stranded, and had to use another Tx / Rx system – FlySky i6 to keep me operational.
I have been retired since 2011 from my former Electronics and Computer engineering carreer of over 45 years, and decided to research info related to REPAIR of Futaba T6K Transmitter – and NOWHERE on this Planet is there ANY info related to Futaba Schematic Repair info available. The T6K is now listed as OBSOLETE – yet they still Sell them at various outlets, costing well over AUD$400, and the more I searched for Equipment Parts Support Resources and Not able to find ANY, the less confident I felt about continuing to use the equipment, and I waited for over 3 months for supply of Jog Key Switch that I intended to replace, as it could be delicately de-soldered from the main board and replaced – BUT was told by the Futaba Supplier in Australia – not arrived yet ! – Very Frustrating to say the least after several calls and NO further progress – however, I decided to actually dismantle the Jog Jey Switch after de-soldering it from the main circuit board, and using very fine tweezer, was able to access the 5 switch Dome shaped contacts inside and cleaned all with a cotton bud and metholated Spirits/alcohol, and reassembled and re-soldered it back in place again – YES all good and operating perfect again.
Next I also replaced a few of the Trim push button switches that were intermittent after ordering replacements on eBay, then also looking at the poor Design of the Plastic covers that allows Water ingress at the slightest drop of Rain, so I placed adhesive tape cover over each trim switch – and the Jog Key switch, and the Volume unit which needed a small hole for the centre shaft – which I was hopeful would provide an additional barrier to deflect any water from entering directly on top of the switches, and has worked perfectly. I also took opportunity to clean the circuit board component connections with Alcohol using toothbrush, as some signs of tracking were visible ( white powder type corrosion on some solder point on IC chips.
I have since later found the exact Jog Key Part and ordered several, and now have repaired over 10 of these Futaba T6K Transmitter units for various RC Sailing colleagues who have had the same issues.
Jog Jey Switch Part Number – ROHS K1-1507SA-03
Trim Switch Push button – 6x6mm, H =4.3mm – 12000044771219367
