Race Report – 13th/14th July, Tens….!!

Results from the weekend.

With almost everyone racing away up north, or stranded by the 2 day M25 closure, we had no IOMs on Sunday. Saturday saw three of us race our Tens at Datchet… with no jellyfish reported.

We managed 8 races on the relaid North  course.
Hugh 7 points  (5 wins)
Phil 10 points (2 wins)
Graham 13 points (1 win)

After repairs to the platform on Thursday, Phil and myself shifted it back home to near the top of the North Slip on Friday.  We then cleaned some marks and relaid the north course, hopefully suited to a range of northwesterly wind direction.  It seemed to work on Saturday.

Race Report – 4th and 5th November 2023

The Weekend’s results:-

Four Tens were out on Saturday with a delayed start due to rain/drizzle and an uncooperative wind, we eventually got going on the South Course and did four races before a lunch break.  Two of us changed down at this point and this proved disastrous for Phil, who had stayed in top rig, as he nose dived big time at the last spreader of the last race to let myself through to win the day by one point.  Full results were
Hugh 8 pts
Phil 9 pts
Richard U 15 pts
Graham 20 pts

Sunday :-

We had 4 skippers for IOMs however two did not have no. 3 Rigs, or it C rigs these days and Les and myself thought it would not be much fun with two and anyway Les does not like waves!

In fairness it was West 15 gusting 23 knots

Race Report – Weekend of 23/24 September !

Results from the weekend… we had Tens on Saturday and IOMs on Sunday.

On Saturday we had 5 Tens for the first time in ages with a surprise appearance of Nic with his Diamond.

Results were;
Phil 7 pts
Richard U 11 pts
Graham 18 pts
Nic. 21 pts. Winch failure after 6 races
Hugh 31 pts Servo failure after one race.
It was sailed mostly with top rig, except Richard who broke a shroud rigging, so sailed with his second rig.

We had several notable absentees who were away at the RG65s….so Sunday saw 6 IOMs sail 10 races in no 2 rig.  Richard J kindly acted as race officer for the day.  His new IOM has arrived but no rigs as of Sunday.  We were also joined by James Hadden from Gosport who wanted some practice before the Europeans in October.

Results were;
Nigel 10 pts
Hugh 15 pts
James 20 pts (Guest)
Peter. 26 pts finished with a broken Forestay🫤
David 28 pts left on domestic duties after 6 races
Les 42 pts.

I shall also take the opportunity to congratulate those after the RG65s at West Kirby. Good result!

The IOM Europeans in Spain are in a couple of weeks time. Nigel will be attending.

Also the very good news that Richard Jones has joined the Committee to front up publicity.  Watch this space😁
