Marblehead Racing – Sunday 18th February…

Nice turnout on Sunday, eight boats ! Especially as the severe weather warning for rain only ceased at 9am!! Pretty light winds, but Phil properly cleaned up with Rohan a great second!!

Hugh’s F6 Marblehead has had a winter refit and come out this very classy colour of yellow!!

The Club launches a new DF95 Series with Two New Loan Boats….

The clubs new 95’s ready to go, Just add water.

Datchet have acquired two new DF95s as loan boats to encourage newcomers to take up the sport.  The club are introducing a series for the DF95 class to take place on alternate Saturdays on the same weekend as Sunday Marbleheads. This coming Saturday (17th) will be the first date and we will have a one-off day of racing for all those interested in sailing DF95’s regularly and to decide amongst the members how they would like to progress a regular series. We are also encouraging mid week sailing which is currently suggested to be on Wednesdays but could just as easily be on a different day. Anyone who is interested or who has a DF95 already is encouraged to come this Saturday to discuss formats and dates. If you want to try one of the new club boats then please email us via the contact page of this website.

Informal Racing, Match Racing or just Practicing Your Starts? Need an easy Start Timer??

Screenshot

If you are turning up at the Club to do some informal racing, or maybe with two or three buddies for a little match racing tournament – or even just practicing your starts …. you might like a race timer that you can simply run from your iPhone or iPad.

I’ve been trying this one above. It’s free to download and use.

You need to configure it to be close to what we use at The Club on formal race days. You “configure” the settings to do that. You might find it useful to try the ones I have selected below. Starts at two minutes, then calls ten second intervals 60 down to 10, then counts each second down to zero and sounds a good starting horn.
