Using a “Lifter” to Recover Your Marblehead
If you’re like me, before you had time to seriously consider a Marblehead you will have already heard several hilarious stories about trying to recover a swing rig Marblehead by lifting by the mast (as you would an IOM) and the rig coming off in the rescuer’s hands!!
Well, fear not – consider a “lifter” !! Take a peep at the video to see how easy it makes things. If you have wobbly knees, or cannot bend much, this is such a simple way to go. It might become your preferred way of recovering and launching any radio yacht.
I’ll do a separate post in the ‘Launching and Recovery’ section of the website, to show you how to make a lifter for £12-£15 ….. from Amazon!!
Marblehead Race Report – Sunday 3rd September
Six Marbleheads yesterday at Datchet in glorious sunshine, but unfortunately a very lightly easterly breeze which was not only unstable as to strength but also large shifts which both together made for very tricky conditions. Certainly a day for A-rigs! We managed 6 races before the fans turned off entirely. The results are below. Les got off to a fine start in the first race with a port tack flyer and lead on the way until the final beat when I think his nerves got to him and the wind failed him as he faded 4th. Nigel suffered from sheeting problems which hampered his results, hopefully to be sorted before the Nationals in a few weeks. Hugh had an outrageous day, winning most of them with his F6!!!
1st Hugh 5pts
2nd Phil 10pts
3rd Rohan 15pts
4th Nigel 22pts
5th Les 23pts
6th Graham 24pts
