Using a Stand – Hints and Tips!!

When leaving a boat in a stand for any length of time, always leave the sails sheeted out if you leave it. If away for any time, the best thing to do is put the boat in the head-to-wind position to avoid any nasty instances!

Being blown out of the stand is a great way to end up with a bent rudder shaft for example – and you definitely will not want that !!

RYA Dinghy Show Radio Fleet Ready to Go !!!

The fleet of six DF65s is fully charged and ready to go at the RYA Dinghy Show this weekend. Hugh reports that they’ll put a few more centimetres of water in the pool by the time the show opens tomorrow!

The depth probably is not going to be enough to show off our Marblehead, but Hugh and Phil have one down there to tempt the keen people!

Come and have a go !!

Race Officers Report – 17/18 February and Our First DF95 Racing!

On Saturday we held our first DF95 club racing with up to 8 boats, including some guests.  As it was the first time out for many we did no scoring and the wind was not kind we us as we had to shift from the north course to the south after a few races.  Some found to their cost that the green stuff on the waterline is ultra slippery when trying to retrieve their boats, however it was a successful day.

On Sunday we had 8 Marbleheads including two guests.  Again the wind was not kind to us and the selected windward mark was too far away and not suitable as Richard found when the top pole caught his back stay twice.  It was positioned such that we were beating away from ourselves and judgement was difficult and frustrating to the extent that Richard and myself retired for the day, Jim sailing a borrowed boat had to retire with technical problems!
