Sunday 29th December – IOM Racing, Eight Boat Fleet !!

It was a tad misty, it must be said – but not a problem for the radio sailors – we were by far the largest group at the Club today! For Jim and myself, the journey from Kent got a seriously fog-lights-on murky around Reigate Hill, but the key thing is that there was enough breeze at Datchet – a pretty steady 4-5mph. Surprising short wave formations too, our race track having a mile of water to windward to generate a mini-chop. The water level is approaching maximum (see WEBCAM in the menu bar above) and we were launching off the south steps. It looked like they had squirted another metre in overnight and the south pontoon could not be reached without getting your feet wet !

It being the Sunday just after Christmas, I was expecting a modest little fleet – far from it!! We had eight boats on the water and that’s after two no-shows from Phil (flu) and Steve. So we could have had ten !!

Got a good morning’s racing done. Craig and David were racing and comparing two of Craig’s recent printed designs – very interesting for us all to see. Both were numbered 112 so we had to keep our wits about us – like seeing double sometimes!!

After a BYO lunch at the Clubhouse (Galley closed for Christmas!) four of the guys went back out for more 🙂
