A Huge Thank You

Datchet Radio Sailing have hosted two major National Championships over the last two weekends. Starting with the Marblehead Class on the 1st/2nd June followed by the 10Rater Class over the 8th/9th June. Both events were successful despite tricky wind directions and feedback from competitors both local and international has been extremely positive. The success of these events would not have come about without the hard work put in by DRS members and others, from Race Officer and team to boat crew to catering and clearing up the club presented itself exceptionally and over half of our members along with support from the main sailing club as well as a volunteer from Guildford club were involved in making this happen. A huge thank you to you all for all your efforts it is very much appreciated.

May 12th – Marblehead Sunday !!

Results from the weekend at Datchet.

With no 95s on Saturday, it was left to the Marbleheads on Sunday. A delayed start waiting to see if the wind would go to it’s forecast SE direction, this it failed to do and five of us sailed an unpredictable Easterly and this was not ideal as the bank on the South course gave a large wind shadow.

However we did manage 8 races often without a real beat and the runs could be anything from a run to a beat with a lot of reaching and close fetching in between.

After the 8 races, the results were;

Nigel 7 points with 5 wins
Hugh 11 points with 2 wins
Rohan 13 points with 1 win
Phil 25 points with some boat issues.
Bob 35 points

All in all a very pleasant morning in the warm sunshine.

Three for each day on glorious sunshine and light SE breezes.

For the first time this Spring Series we managed to get a result for the Tens and after 9 races the result was; Hugh 7 pts. 5 wins
Phil 10 pts. 2 wins
Graham 15 pts 1 win

For the IOMs on Sunday the spread was closer and afte 10 races the results were; Hugh 12 pts. 5 wins
David Cole 14 pts. 2 wins
Peter 16pts. 3 wins

For both days there were enough shifts to make life interesting both up wind and down. All in all a good weekend at Datchet.
