Classic Stand

Whether you buy a boat new, or previously used, it’s pretty normal that you don’t get a stand with it.

The really cool looking top competitors seem to make do with rolling up a towel, placing it on the ground, then resting the boat on that. Not too comfortable with placing your new pride-and-joy down on the ground like that? You’ll want a stand !!

We’ll publish a few alternative ideas in the “Stands” category of the website for you to think about. This is a photo of a reasonably classic wooden, home built stand.

There are some other ideas around too. See the “Stands” section.

Acquired a Boat? How Do You Register It ?

I’ve heard it said at the Club that it can be a little challenging to find how to register the boat you’ve just acquired.

It’s on the MYA website in the knowledge base, and you’ll see a list of all the Class Registrars there.

Try looking in http://www.mya-uk.org.uk/kb/class-registrars

Buying Pre-Owned Boats

There are two main ways to find pre-owned boats :-

1/ Check the MYA For Sale section of their website. Boats are sold incredibly quickly on this website, so if you see something, move fast.

2/ Between club members and friends. Make sure people know you are looking!

There are no set rules or standards when buying a previously owned boat. It had never occurred to me as a newcomer though that it is relatively normal to find that boats for sale come without a stand, and without radio kit. It varies obviously and I guess all sorts of things might be possible “by negotiation”. So when you see an advert, be careful to clarify this.

If you already have a radio controlled boat, you can usually share the transmitter between boats by using the “multiple models” features.
