They did very well to get a full 11 races in at Chipstead today given the gentle conditions. Craig had a blast of an afternoon (see results) and in the end wrested the final overall win from Nigel by two points. Craig put in an amazing set of results in the afternoon and honestly, in the last leg of the last race there was a lot for Craig to make up lying in second place at the last leeward gate – but give up? He did not !! That last beat was a staggering win – we were all a bit gob-smacked !!
So Craig and Nigel were a 1,2 and we should mention Jim La Roche who had a strong morning and came 8th overall. Jim has acquired Vernon’s old boat (73) and is really getting serious !!
Craig and Nigel were in the Proteus Development boats – I think Craig’s was pretty hot of the press… or off the printer anyway. It’s wonderful to see all these design iterations coming along so quickly.
The Club did a super-friendly and expert job of the day. Competitors even got a small speech from the new overall Club Commodore … it was great to see radio sailing being embraced and encouraged from the top.
